Bjorn Gott
I build mobile apps, the infrastructure behind them, and the teams that ship them. Nearly twenty years in tech, from the server room to the app store.
About
I was a computer nerd long before it was my job. Professionally, I've worked in tech since 2007, first in IT, then as a software engineer, then as an engineering manager. I'm looking for my next role in software engineering, infrastructure/DevOps or engineering leadership, either remote or hybrid in the Twin Cities.
How I work
-
01
I know what's under the code.
I spent twelve years in IT before writing software full time. So I think about the servers, networks and DNS my code runs on, not just the code itself.
-
02
Just enough process.
When my team outgrew working ad hoc, I didn't impose a full agile framework. Two-week sprints with planning and standups were enough to make releases predictable and priorities clear.

Own the whole path.
I like taking work from the editor all the way to production: backend, CI/CD and deployment. This site does exactly that: every merge is built, tested and deployed by my self-hosted GitLab into a container in my homelab.

Android apps, with a partner
I design and build Android apps in Kotlin with a friend. More to share soon.
Two sites, one container
bjorngott.com and kb0vfj.net are hand-written HTML with no frameworks and no trackers, served by a single nginx container that GitLab CI builds and deploys on every merge.
The rack at home
Firewall, Wi-Fi, DNS, storage, self-hosted GitLab and a Docker host. Where I try things before I trust them at work.
